The memory of places - Series of meetings for librarians in the province of Rome

Il 12 dicembre 2006, presso la sede del Consorzio BAICR (via Mecenate 59 - 00184 Roma), inizierà il ciclo di incontri sulla valorizzazione della cultura locale: La memoria dei luoghi. Le biblioteche interpretano il territorio , riservato ai bibliotecari della provincia di Roma.
Gli incontri intendono avere una finalità generale di aggiornamento culturale e professionale e, in particolare, si propongono di:

• arricchire il know-how sulle metodologie di raccolta, gestione e promozione delle resources and sources of local culture;
• deepen the concepts and principles of living history , which is also reflected in the reconstruction of situations and environments, historical moments of local life;
• contribute to communication and promotion of cultural heritage territory.
  

The interventions will address the following themes:

• local memory as a fundamental component of the construction of identity and sense of belonging civil
• enlargement of the concept of culture in all aspects of daily life;

Abbiamo selezionato tre testi che contengono riflessioni interessanti sul tema, la cui lettura può servire da introduzione al ciclo di incontri: due storici di professione, come Jacques Revel e David Bidussa , riflettono sul rapporto tra storia e memoria; nel terzo contributo il gruppo di progetto del distretto culturale dei Castelli Romani analizza the new demand for popular culture in the area.

Hello,
inform you that on November 14 pv 10 hours will be held at the Sala Pietro da Cortona in a Capitol meeting with the Palestinian Nafez Assaily librarian, founder of LOWNP - Library on Wheels for Nonviolence and Peace (Mobile Library for Nonviolence and Peace) which is based (it so to speak, since it is a walking library!) in Hebron, West Bank.

The request to spread this news has reached us from Sinnos, Soc. Social non-profit organization that has promoted, together with other bodies, the trip to Italy to Nafez, in order to raise awareness of library experience so special.
Nafez is interested in meeting librarians and cultural workers and for this, in addition to participating initiative on 14 November, it might be interesting to organize a special meeting at any library in the province, particularly where they are made in the field of multicultural experiences and projects, keeping in mind that the dates still available are: 13, 17, 18:19 November.

Among other things we could also use the blog to exchange information on the activities of libraries in this field. What do you think?
